Leading in the youth sports industry

BIOS traveled to the Indianapolis metropolitan area to learn about the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield. One of the nation's largest multi-sport settings. Grand Park draws 2.5 million visitors each year to its 400-acre campus. The grounds include 31 soccer fields, 21 baseball diamonds, 2 administration buildings, 7 concession stands, and a 378,000 sq. foot events center. Grand Park helps attract $1.5 million in economic development annually. This is a true sports mega-plex.

We visited with Grand Park Director Matt Trnian to learn about what it takes to lead in the youth sport's industry at one of the largest sport complexes. Matt attended Kent State University where he studied Sport Management and he was an equipment manager on the football team. He began his association with Grand Park Sports Campus as an intern in 2014. When Matt was named directed, he reflected, “Being at the park since it opened has given me the opportunity to learn, grow, both personally and professionally and enjoy unique experiences I never dreamed of being a part of. I look forward to facing the challenges and opportunities that will come with this new position.”
